Regular Sexual Activity Reduces Impotence


Regular intercourse can play an important role in preserving erectile function among elderly men. Regular sexual activity can help to preserve fertility of men. The risk of erectile dysfunction was inversely related to the frequency of intercourse. The older man may avoid erectile dysfunction (ED) if they have regular sex at least once a week.
Researchers from Finland have conducted this new study on erectile dysfunction (ED) risk in men. The team of researchers has conducted a study on 989 men aging 55 to 75 for five years. They answered a questionnaire mailed to them. The men who returned the questionnaire five years later were included in the study. None of them had erectile dysfunction at the beginning of the study. Out of 1000 cases, 79 cases had sexual intercourse less than once per week. The cases dropped to 32 for men who had sex once per week. The number further dropped to 16 per 1000 for men who performed intercourse 3 or more times per week. Further the men who had less than one morning erection per week were 2.5 times more likely to get erectile dysfunction. There are increased risk of erectile dysfunction in men with some chronical medical condition or overweight who had sex less than once a week .
According to the National Institutes of Health, erectile dysfunction is common in older men. Some modern medicines like Generic viagra, kamagra can also prevent erectile dysfunction . Regular sex also impacts the general health and quality of life. The study is published in the July issue of The American Journal of Medicine.
But the study had one major limitation also. The researchers did not ask men about masturbation.
